GLOBAL BLOG

This Blog provides an ongoing update of what has been happening at Frank Hudson.
Well here we go again, driving through dusty broken roads overtaking on blind bends, Will-this-mode-of-transport-do-(6).jpg
stray dogs running out in front of the car, and Vlad our Romanian Driver/Manager swearing at anyone in his way!! Only this time it’s just Tim and I , we have flown into Hungary and hired a car and are driving for the Romanian border on a Monday evening!

Five hours later we pull into the hotel tired and looking forward to a beer; it’s 11pm. Fresh river trout and pickles with a fine Romanian wine later, feeling refreshed we get our heads down for a nights sleep.

Next morning after a disappointing breakfast of dry bread and ham, we make our way to the factory to inspect and hopefully sign off the new range just developed for our buying group launch!

We spend two full days in the factory, checking quality, looking at new designs, putting new ideas together, and the work p16-hrs-done-only-10-more-to-go-(2).jpgassionate Romanian management throwing their arms about and shouting into their phones at every opportunity!
On the Thursday morning after a final meeting we start our journey back home! Or at least we thought we had!

As we travel back to Budapest the story of the volcano starts to come through; looks like we will not be home Thursday evening for 5 aside football after all!

In the airport it's chaos; we join a queue as all good Brits know how and finally get to the front; flight leaving for Paris in the morning great, I’m sure we can get back from there!!!

That evening we have a very pleasant meal in a cafĂ© style restaurant with a violin playing local tunes.  And we will be home the next day - great!

If only I knew!!

Friday morning flight cancelled, Paris closed oh dear! Back to the airport, Tim joins one queue I join another. Finally, after trying all sorts of options a very entrepreneurial travel agent puts together some coaches; one of them to London Luton leaving at 5pm, it will only take 26 hours!

That night we start the journey travelling through Europe to eventually arrive early in Luton at 5pm Saturday with the sun shinning. Home for 6pm, in pub by 6.30 with family, cheese burgers and beer, what a journey!
